Class B and E course outline

Participants in our course will learn about legal guidelines and requirements, the traits of a defensive bus driver, and methods for training defensive drivers of school buses. During in-bus training, students receive hands-on, practical instruction in the setting in which they will work every day. The course material will consider introducing the student to big vehicles and the real-world applications needed to operate motor vehicles safely. For those with a full G license, a clean driving record, and a passion for working with children, this course is ideal.
What you can drive with this license?
With a Class B and E license, you can:
  • Either a B Class licence or an E Class license is required in Ontario in order to operate a school bus.
  • Operate a bus with more than 24 seats for students.
  • Drive vehicles that require a C, D, F, or G class licenses.
Requirements for admission
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Hold an Ontario license that is not a G1, G2, M, M1, or M2 in good standing.
  • You must pass a vision test.
  • Submit an accurate medical report.
  • Finish a school bus driver improvement course that has been approved by the government.
  • Possess less than 6 demerit points on your driving record, and successfully complete a (CRJM) Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check.
  • Pass a test to verify that you are competent to drive a school bus or a truck (for Class B only).
  • Pass an inspection on the road in a vehicle that satisfies the requirements.
Class Topics Included:
  • School bus-specific HTA and O’Reg.
  • The lawoperator and driver’s responsibilities.
  • Appropriate vehicle inspections, as required by law.
  • Regulations for service hours.
  • Qualities of an effective defensive driver.
  • Understanding the elements that could affect your capacity for defensive driving.
  • The dynamics of a vehicle.
  • Braking systems for vehicles.
  • Natural changes in nature necessitate adaptations.
  • Weather changes necessitate adjustments.
  • Road and traffic conditions call for adjustments.
  • Being aware of the necessity of being alert to the danger zones and blind spots that are frequently present on school buses.
  • The ABCs of a careful driver.
  • Handling passengers.
  • Equipment requirements for safety.
  • Emergency action.
What will i get at the completion of the course?
Students who successfully complete the training program will also receive Class B and E Training Certificates.
